How to reach the Sundarbans

Most travellers reach Canning from Kolkata by train or car. From Canning, continue by car or auto to Sonakhali Launch Ghat, where you board the boat to the Sundarbans. Share your starting point, preferred festival, dates, and group size to receive the most accurate route and quote.

What should you carry?

  • Light clothing, sun protection, mosquito repellent, and valid identification.
  • Binoculars if available and a light jacket during winter.
  • Comfortable footwear and a rain layer for monsoon travel.
  • Water-resistant protection for phones, documents, and cameras.
  • Quiet, responsible travel habits: avoid litter, loud music, and disturbing wildlife.

Responsible safari expectations

Boat safaris use licensed boats and forest guides through permitted creeks and approved watchtower routes. Entry, timing, and route access follow current Forest Department rules. Tigers and other wildlife are wild animals, so sightings are never guaranteed.
